Apple Car Launch Delayed, says reports; What are the expected features of This Car?

The Apple Car project, codenamed “Project Titan”, has been in development since 2015. It’s perhaps Apple’s worst-kept secret and has gone through several rumor cycles. Initially, it was rumored to involve an electric vehicle that would compete with Tesla, featuring smart components like Siri and deep integrations with the iPhone. Later, it evolved into a specialized infotainment system that Apple could sell to distributors like BMW.

Reports in late 2021 suggested that Apple might officially announce the car project in 2022 and launch it by 2025. However, 2022 came and went without any public news of the Apple Car. A December 2022 report indicated that Apple might no longer target full autonomy, include a steering wheel, and potentially launch the car sometime in 2026 at the earliest. Like Apple’s other moonshot secret products, there’s always a chance that the Apple Car may never be released, but technologies used for CarPlay and Car Key continue to roll out as a result of ongoing development and testings.

Apple Car Features

  • The Apple Car is speculated to be a fully-featured self-driving electric vehicle.
  • It could include AI-specific features powered by Siri.
  • Apple acquired Drive.AI in 2019, which adds to the project’s capabilities.
  • The car’s launch is expected in 2026 or later.
  • As for the price, it could cost less than $100,000.

Battery Technology

  • The Apple Car is set to feature radical battery technology.
  • While details are scarce, this technology could be a game-changer in the electric vehicle market.
