BMC celebrates Shiv Jayanti at Raj Bhavan with patriotic songs

Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) celebrated Shiv Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, at Raj Bhavan on Monday, February 19, 2024. Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais attended the event and listened to the patriotic songs on the life and work of the Maratha warrior king. The musical programme was presented by the Sangeet Kala Academy of BMC.

The Governor praised the BMC for organising the event and announced a prize of Rs. 25,000 to the Music Department of BMC on the occasion. He also paid tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and hailed him as a symbol of courage, valour, and patriotism. He said that Shiv Jayanti is an occasion to remember and emulate the ideals and values of the great ruler.

The event was also attended by BMC Administrator Dr I S Chahal, Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr Ashwini Joshi, Chairman of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Smarak Samiti Kishan Jadhav, and other BMC officials and staff. The event was held at Krida Bhavan near Shivaji Park, which is one of the venues for the Shiv Jayanti celebrations in the city.
