Television actor Rituraj Singh, who was known for his roles in shows like Anupamaa, Banegi Apni Baat, and Jyoti, died on Monday night after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 59.
According to his close friend and actor Amit Behl, Rituraj was battling pancreatic disease and had been hospitalised for treatment. He returned home a few days ago, but felt weak and was rushed to the hospital again. However, he could not survive the cardiac attack and breathed his last around 12:30 am.
Rituraj Singh had a long and illustrious career in the television industry, spanning over three decades. He started his journey with Zee TV’s Banegi Apni Baat in 1993 and went on to feature in several popular shows such as Hitler Didi, Shapath, Warrior High, Aahat, Adaalat, Diya Aur Baati Hum, and more. He was also seen in movies like Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Sarfarosh.
His most recent appearance was in Star Plus’ hit show Anupamaa, where he played the role of Anirudh, the estranged husband of Kavya, one of the main characters. He had joined the show in 2020 and had received appreciation for his performance.
Rituraj Singh’s demise has left the television fraternity and his fans in shock and grief. Many of his co-stars and colleagues have expressed their condolences and paid tribute to him on social media. Sandip Sikand, who worked with him in Kahani Ghar Ghar Kii, said that Rituraj was not only a brilliant actor but also a fine human being. He added that he was heartbroken and saddened by the news.
Rituraj Singh is survived by his wife and two children. May his soul rest in peace.
