Andhra Pradesh: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), which has formed an alliance with the Jana Sena Party (JSP) for the upcoming elections in Andhra Pradesh, is ready to announce its first list of candidates soon. The party has decided to contest 87 seats in the state, while leaving the rest to its ally JSP.
The TDP state president Kasani Gnaneswar said that the party will announce its first list of 30 candidates shortly. He said that the party is conducting a survey on the prospects of candidates before finalising the second list. He also said that the party is hopeful of the BJP joining the alliance, but there is no official confirmation yet.
The TDP-JSP alliance is aiming to dethrone the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), which has set a target of winning 175 seats out of 175 in the state. The YSRCP has already released seven lists of candidates and is ahead in the campaign. The TDP-JSP alliance is facing the challenge of finalising the seat-sharing formula and selecting the winnable candidates.
The TDP national general secretary N. Lokesh, who is the son of former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, said that the party will launch the “Rebuild AP” programme if it comes to power in 2024. He said that the party will reintroduce the single-window system to encourage entrepreneurs and establish micro-clusters in all the districts.
